Spookified Rides this Halloween at Disneyland and California Adventure
Halloween has arrived at the happiest place on Earth! As you enter through the gates and the Mickey and Friends jack-o-lanterns greet you from above with big friendly grins, you will surely be enticed by all the Halloween magic, the stunning decor, and the decadent seasonal treats. But undoubtedly, one of the best ways to enjoy Halloween-time at Disneyland Resort is riding the specially themed rides!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
It's two holidays combined into one! So if you don't get a chance this Halloween-time to experience this frightfully merry ride, just make sure you come before the end of the Christmas season!
During Halloween-time, this line tends to be one of the longest in the parks, so be sure to get a fastpass early to avoid a rather lengthy line! Without a fastpass on a Sunday afternoon, I waited about an hour, but once I got off the ride the wait time had nearly doubled! However, there is an upside to waiting in the standby line: you get more time to marvel at the detailed holiday decor. Jack Skellington has decorated the mansion in the best way he knows. He has tried hard to make it look Christmas-y, yet it has somehow turned out very spooky indeed. And I actually quite enjoy the eerie music box tune that chimes away as you creep closer to entrance of the mansion.
You're in for a treat once you step inside. Who knew Christmas could be so chilling, and Halloween so merry and gingerbread scented?!
Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
I was expecting little white sheet ghosts to be floating around in outer space. Woooooo~ spooky! So I laughed at the sign that read "may be frightening for young children." Boy was I wrong. These are not cute little floating ghosts, my friend, they are fiery demon zombie monsters! The music is spine-chilling and intense, and the ride itself is every bit as exhilarating as the classic Space Mountain but with a haunted twist! And yes, it may be frightening for young children (or unwitting adults). Ride if you dare!
Then if you can, cross over to California Adventure, and you'll notice that Oogie Boogie has taken over!
Oogie Boogie has cast his Halloween spell over California Adventure for the very first time. As you walk beneath his dark silhouette that looms over the park, you can hear his voice bellowing through Buena Vista Street. The shop windows have taken on a Halloween theme, and the trees are aglow with purple lights. While you're here, be sure to check out the amazing Halloween ride overlays!
Guardians of the Galaxy, Monsters After Dark!
Mission: BREAKOUT! is complete and the Guardians of the Galaxy have safely escaped the Collector's prison...well, all except one…
Groot has been left behind! What's worse, some of the Collector's exotic monster captives have escaped their enclosures and are on the loose! Your new mission is to basically be live, screaming bait to lure the monsters away while Rocket goes back in to rescue little Groot.
The ride is complete with a whole new song, and is in my opinion every bit as fun and exciting as the original! If you get the chance, I would recommend riding the original Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! first since Monsters After Dark is a continuation of that story line. The Monsters After Dark ride starts at 5pm (may vary on different days), and the fastpass distribution begins around 3pm. Definitely ride this awesome ride, have a blast, and try your best not to get eaten!
Haul-O-Ween in Cars Land
Cars Land is totally decked out this Haul-o-ween with spooky, clever decor: bolt spiders, traffic cone jack-o-lanterns, little car ghosts, and more. It's especially spectacular at night when it's all lit up with purple and green lights.
And of course there are plenty of places to get your picture taken with the cars all dressed up in their Haul-o-ween costumes.
Be sure to check out the rides specially themed for Haul-o-ween:
Take a ride on Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters Honkin' Haul-o-ween! Join Luigi's cousins as they pivot and spin to new Haul-o-ween themed songs, sung by Luigi himself! It's a Haul-o-ween dance party, and it's a heck of a lot of fun!
Then for more honkin' Haul-o-ween dancing fun, head on over to Mater's Graveyard Jam-BOO-Ree, hop aboard a trailer, and let the tractors twist and twirl you around the graveyard as Mater belts out Haul-o-ween versions of his country tunes such as "Welcome to Radiator Screams".
There's certainly a whole lot of fun to be had this year during Halloween-time at Disneyland Resort! So what are you waiting for? Get out there and ride some Halloween rides!
