Happiest NEWS on Earth!
Excellent news, dahlings!
The superhero fashionista Edna Mode from Pixar‘s “The Incredibles” is making her way to Disneyland Resort this summer. Edna is now officially slated to join the cast of walkaround characters meeting and greeting with guests at Pixar Pier, the area currently being rethemed from the former Paradise Pier in the Disney California Adventure.
The eccentric but lovable Edna Mode famously designed the costumes for Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and the rest of the Parr family in 2004’s smash success “The Incredibles,” and will appear again this August when “Incredibles 2” hits the big screen from Disney/Pixar. Edna is voiced by director Brad Bird both in the movies and the highly-anticipated new Incredicoaster ride replacing California Screamin’ at the park.

Disney has announced a date for the alteration of the auction scene on Pirates of the Caribbean. The attraction will close for renovations on Apr 23rd. Disneyland has not set a date for the return. Concept art shows that the historically accurate connotations human trafficking in the scene will be scrubbed. The characters will be at an auction for loot they have stolen from the village. The iconic Redhead will also have a new look. Instead of standing seductively in a tight red dress with a low-cut neckline, she’ll be dressed as a pirate with a firearm and less of her cleavage on display.
Imagineering is in a difficult position. It is never easy to alter a classic attraction. Fans were outraged when the chase scene was altered two decades ago to have pirates lusting after plates of food instead of the women carrying them. But today, you never hear anyone complaining that scene was changed.
Pixar Fest will begin Apr 13th at both parks. The celebration will feature special foods, merchandise, kid craft stations, entertainment and lots of Pixar character meet and greets.
There are two nighttime spectaculars. Together Forever is Disneyland’s new fireworks show and will use the projection technology to project on the buildings of Main Street USA, The Tower of the Four Winds, and Rivers of America. Also exciting is the return of Paint the Night, but this time around at DCA. The parade will feature new Pixar, Incredible, and UP units.
Plus, DCA gets Pixar Shorts in the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land. So you can see favorite Pixar short animated films such as Lava and For the Birds on the big screen. Likely with in-theater effects as well.
